The history of Laguiole knives begins in 1828 in the tranquil village of Laguiole, nestled in the rugged beauty of the Aubrac in France, with the cutler Casimir-Antoine Moulin.
In addition to its geographical origin, ‘Laguiole’ refers to the unique knife style: curved lines, the characteristic bee and the skilful guilloché of the nib. Production almost came to a standstill during the First World War and it was not until 1987 that Laguiole knife production was revived at its original location as ‘Forge de Laguiole’.
