Henry Clay Línea War Hawk Lonsdale

"Henry Clay" is the name of a once very important cigar brand that looks back on a long and very successful history and has made the leap into the present day. Its origins date back to 1840 in Cuba.

But who was Henry Clay? Henry Clay, an American politician, member of the House of Representatives, senator, and Secretary of State, gave this brand its name. He lived from 1777 to 1852. A lawyer by profession, his skills quickly earned him a reputation as a brilliant speaker and mediator.

But what connects one of the most important American politicians of his time with an originally Cuban cigar brand? It was Juan Antonio Bances, one of the founders of the brand, who, through an intermediary, asked the then world-famous Henry Clay whether he could name a cigar brand after him. At Bance's side was Julián Álvarez Granda. Bances and Granda were among the absolute tobacco giants in Cuba at the time. The highest quality and passion for tobacco drove these two men.

From the very beginning, "Henry Clay" cigars were popular and sought after precisely because of these qualities. For many years in the hands of Granda and Bances, the brand passed first into British and then American hands. Then the revolution triumphed in Cuba. The "Henry Clay" brand fell silent. But in the 1980s, under the leadership of the new brand owner, Altadis Consolidated Cigar, the brand was further developed with various lines. In March 2019, the Henry Clay War Hawk was introduced in the USA for the first time. The brand was distributed exclusively in the United States until 2024. The international expansion of this legendary brand only began in mid-2024 with its launch in Spain.

Handcrafted in the La Flor de Copán factory in Honduras, Henry Clay cigars of the Línea War Hawk offer a complex blend of unique, deeply roasted and woody flavors with a pleasant, balanced spice. To achieve these special nuances, the Grupo de Maestros (Master Blenders) developed a special fermentation process that gives these cigars that special, harmonious spice and distinct complexity.
