The pinnacle of the Pledge 

In September 2020, the "EPC Pledge" was released in two vitolas, a Robusto called "Prequel" and the "Sojourn", a Toro. That year, the range developed into the hottest must-have of the cigar world. The Cigar Aficionado agreed and, just a few months later, awarded it "Cigar of the Year" with an unmatched rating of 98 points. 

Ernesto – who is known throughout the industry as the Ringmaster and who unites a sizeable group of connoisseurs who favour large ring gauges – was keen to give these big cigar enthusiasts the "Pledge" taste experience. Ernesto promptly delivered, treating us to the "Pledge Apogee". 

His aim was to create a "Pledge" with a large ring gauge, so he experimented with various blends and the ligero percentage. Transferring the strength, intensity and complexity of a smaller ring gauge to a large one is no mean feat. But Ernesto wouldn’t be Mr. Ringmaster if he hadn’t succeeded: the "Apogee" is a majestic Double Toro with a ring gauge of 58. 

It is one we warmly recommend if you favour intensely aromatic cigars. 

"Apogee" translates as "pinnacle" – an apt name for this cigar. 

Ernesto already made himself immortal with the "Prequel", and with "Apogee", he reinforces his hall-of-fame status.

The Pledge is almost uniquely intense. Seconds after lighting the cigar, black pepper will conquer your palate. The spicy and powerful start is followed by hints of black coffee and delicate cedar aromas. Over time, the black pepper is eclipsed by cocoa and a touch of caramel. The finale impresses with hickory nut and a delicately fruity flavour.
