Rare, rarer, "Ernesto Perez Carrillo Short Run Retro 2021"

In addition to the United States, just four other countries around the world get to enjoy these cigars, which are only manufactured in small quantities. The idea for the Short Run was born back in 2010. It happened, when Ernesto found a small batch of tobacco, which he was keen to use. But there was only enough tobacco for a certain number of cigars, i.e., a "short run".

For the 2021 edition, he once again unearthed a little treasure: wonderfully matured wrappers from Ecuador encasing a binder from Nicaragua. The filler tobaccos are sourced from the Dominican Republic and from Nicaragua.

The retro element mentioned in the name can be found in the cigar band. The "Short Run 2021" is adorned with a cigar band featuring the original E.P.C. logo. In addition, the two names of the formats available in Germany – Short Play (Robusto) and Extended Play (Toro) – allude to Ernesto’s past as a drummer in a jazz band.

In total, a mere 110 boxes have made it to Germany.

The taste of the Short Run Retro 2021 – Extended Play (Toro)

The "Short Run 2021" starts off with a pleasantly earthy flavour that gently envelops the delicate roasted aromas. Over time, intense coffee aromas gain the upper hand and mingle with sensational hints of pecan. The "Short Run" is complex. It will indulge you with additional flavours of chocolate, almond and a trace of black pepper.

It is just above medium strong. Like with all Tabacalera La Alianza cigars, the workmanship is unrivalled.
