UberLuxury – the Meir Master Blend
As with every Meerapfel cigar, the production of the Meir Masterblend in Churchill format is limited to 613 boxes per year. These cigars are only available from 100 special partners in the premium cigar trade around the world. Only 9 of them are in Germany and only one – namely Zechbauer – in Bavaria.
This series of cigars honors Meir Meerapfel, who founded the Meerapfel cigar factory in Untergrombach (northeast of Stuttgart, not far from the French border) in 1876. The Meerapfels rolled their cigars there by hand for around 150 years, until the factory was destroyed in the Second World War. The cigars disappeared from the scene. The Meerapfel family had made a name for themselves around the world as specialists in tobacco leaves from Cameroon – a rarity that the Meerapfels saved from disappearing.
The new cigars are striking. Meerapfel tried to create a cigar that should be on a par with Bugatti or Panerai. The ribbons are particularly ornate, designed by a Belgian lacemaker and made in the Netherlands. Its intricate patterns make the Cameroon leaf shine to striking effect. The straps in the boxes are handmade, the boxes themselves are made of sustainable and very light wood.
The tobacco used for rolling the Meir line is kept secret by Meerapfel. The wrapper leaf of the Meir line is sourced from Cameroon, while the cigars are rolled in the Dominican Republic. The leaves used in these cigars are allowed to age for a significant amount of time, with 20 year old tobacco being considered a norm by Meerapfel's owner, Jeremiah Meerapfel.
Taste of Meerapfel Meir Masterblend Churchill
In the cold draw, the cigar reveals a delicate sweetness and aromas of chocolate. A woody beginning is replaced by notes of pecan and aniseed combined with a subtle saltiness.
