The small powerhouses are offered in four names and four different ring gauges. The names are inspired by the respective wrapper leaf – the NUB Connecticut owes its name to the Connecticut Shade wrapper leaf from Ecuador, the wrapper leaf of the NUB Maduro has Brazilian roots and the NUB Cameroon was named after the wrapper leaf from the Central African state.
How did the NUB cigars come about?
Sam Leccia, the founder of NUB, was fascinated by the idea that cigars should develop their full flavour and strength immediately after being lit, focusing on the essential core of flavour. That (usually) last 100mm, where any cigar develops its best flavours. So why not develop a cigar that simply consists of these highly aromatic 100mm?
Hence the name "NUB", which translates as "essence". Together with the "Oliva" brand, Sam Leccia developed cigars that are thicker and shorter and thus hold fine and strong flavours in store for the aficionado from start to finish.
