Oliva's roots go back to a long tobacco tradition that began in Cuba in 1866 with Melanio Oliva. Two generations later, Gilberto Oliva Sr. left Cuba in 1966. After an odyssey through different countries, the Olivas found their home in Nicaragua in 1994. In 1995 the first own brands, Series O and Series G, are produced. In 2003 Oliva opened her own factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. In 2016, Oliva is acquired by the Belgian company J . Bought Cortes Cigars. The outstanding and consistent quality of the cigars is unique.
Series V brings the breakthrough
With the introduction of the Series V in 2007, Oliva made the breakthrough on the market. In 2014, the Oliva Series V Melanio Figurado was named the best cigar of the year by the renowned trade magazine "Cigar Aficionado". The development work on the Oliva V Melanio took five years and the use of specially fermented Ligero in the insert resulted in a cigar that is second to none. The Series V Melanio (like the Oliva Series V) is a medium-bodied blend, which, however, spreads an incredible intensity in body and in the variety of aromas.
