Hermann Upmann was a banker from Germany. His love for Cuban cigars prompted him to move to Havanna in 1844. There he continued working as a banker and created his own cigar manufacture.
While his bank had to close down shortly after 1920, his cigars continue to thrive as an excellent example of a Habano. Their flavour profile ranges from light to medium strong.
All of H. Upmann's inner tobaccos as well as his binders come from the much referred tobacco plantation area of Vuelta Abajo. No less than eleven gold medals adorn the cigar boxes. All of the formats are as they say totalmente a mano, tripa larga - long fillers made entirely by hand.
The Sir Winston is of exceeding length so as to offer a smoking experienced that can be savoured.
